How Money Works

Calculus Roundtable’s Money Works program is an engaging, interactive financial literacy and applied mathematics curriculum linking math to personal finance for elementary, middle, and high school students. Each grade band explores age-appropriate topics—from understanding the value of money and basic budgeting in elementary school to compound interest, taxes, inflation, and stock market basics in high school.

By using grade-level math to solve hands-on, real-world financial problems, students make connections to everyday life and gain a deeper understanding of financial decision-making. This clear, culturally inclusive approach aligns with Calculus Roundtable’s mission to make STEM education practical and relevant for underserved students.
